How it all started...

Since the day I took my first trip abroad at the age of 16, I was bitten by the travel bug. From there on out, everything I did was aimed at getting more opportunities to travel. I pursued a degree in foreign languages; I volunteered for student summer work in the USA; and I spent a year in Germany as an AuPair. After 22 years of growing up in Latvia and living in Europe, I made my big move to permanently settle in the USA. As I traveled more and more, my friends and relatives were always asking me of my trips and wanted to see photos. And so, the idea was born to try my hand at writing this travel blog which, at the same time, would also serve as a means of staying in touch with my family and friends back in my home-country, Latvia.

When it comes to my travel style, you won’t find me at an all-inclusive resort spending a week lazily soaking up the sun on the beach with an umbrella drink in my hand. I will be the one out there – hiking through a scorching desert heat somewhere in Arizona wilderness, or layered up in 3 pants and 2 jackets just to keep myself from freezing while dog-sledding in Canada. I love exploring, seeing new places, immersing in the culture, but most of all – I love nature! I always look for a way to see natural beauty – national parks, state parks, UNESCO sites, scenic drives - and the opportunities are endless! My family has come to terms with my active travel style, and even my two little boys are always ready for a new adventure. Although my husband would occasionally love a beach chair and an umbrella drink, he just knows it’s not in the cards, so he has stopped asking. Travel is in my blood, and even while we are on a trip, I already have the next one planned, and the next one, and possibly another one…

Even though several articles are in Latvian (and I don't think I will have enough patience any time soon to translate any of them in English), the photos and videos are still available for everyone to see and enjoy, Latvian or English!

Here we go...
